Development of zinc, silver, and hyaluronic acid mediated wet spun alginate fibers for potential wound care applications

Sodium alginate and hyaluronic acid are being used extensively in wound care applications for their exceptional properties, including gelation, biocompatibility, exudate absorption, the ability to provide a moist environment bed that accelerates healing. This research work presents potential of developing silver zinc ions loaded bioactive fibers with improved swelling (gelling), antibacterial properties. The effect loading on alginate/hyaluronic biofiber (gelation), tensile activity were analyzed. It was found addition salts tensile, gelation properties fibers. Zinc-containing exhibited superior silver-containing presence influenced release various liquid media maximum 26 g/g absorption observed which suggested good capacity developed showed against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli strains.
